It's been a while.  Here's a 'Best of'  photo diary of the last couple of months...
MARCH....
A trip tot he natural History museum with friends.
And a duploe architectural competition- the winning design a team effort- their very own Natural History Museum.
We tried out brand new recipes- Caribbean fish cakes.....

 DELICIOUS was the verdict.
 Pudding club...
 Nervous participants!
More baking...the family that loves food!
And taking care of our stick insects- only on in a million are male, our girls have been laying eggs (parthenogenetically) for 6 months and finally one hatched...
 Tweedle dee and Tweedle dum
APRIL.....
Big number birthdays....

We went pond dipping at a local country park after studying the life cycle of frogs and toads and they scooped no less than 32 frisky frogs.  We got told on the way out that pond-dipping was not allowed (bah-humbug, don't get me started). I had already planned how to smuggle some frogspawn out of there!
We had some sunshine!

All the guys plus the hairy one chowing down on homemade cookies.

The littlest and the biggest, best of friends.
Artists at work on a follow up activity from that week's nature study- the life of the kingfisher.

 Finished pieces....

MAY....
Some beautiful photos taken by a talented photograper friend and gifted to us by some lovely ladies.

The sparrows had a Fire Day beginning with a visit to the local fire station where they got to have a go with the light sabres...I mean fire hose! Followed by a fire extinguisher talk and demonstration by a fire safety officer.  Now I have children examining fire extinguishers everywhere they find them to see what fires they could tackle with them....
We love our local park and walk.

Young nature enthusiast in the making.

We took a trip to the Imperial War Museum Duxford- an amazing museum. The sparrows made these posters  after the visit using photos they had taken of their favourite displays and inspired illustrations, they were so proud of them.

MAY.......
Friday field trips to Anglesey Abbey- a real treasure trove of a place and the weather was beautiful.

Little Red Riding Hood re-enactments in the Story circle.....
 Porridge making from Goldilocks
And more beautiful sunshine- and an excuse for banana and chocolate milkshakes.
First slippy slide of 2013- may there be many more!

A taste of February

And it is still REALLY cold but spring is just around the corner....we hope!!  But winter has it's beautiful moments. These are Winter Irises we found at Anglesey Abbey.  The boys painted some beautiful pictures of the flowers we found, mostly Snowdrops and Aconites.
A Valentines rose from papa Sparrow made my evening.
When the sun does come out we are out on adventures, the sparrows, if they could, would live up trees.
The founder of the 'forest school ' movement said there is no such thing as bad weather, just bad clothing choices.....I half agree...

Setting sail to the ships the boys made....

And also because sometimes good clothing just isn't enough.... inside activities too.  Cleaning copper coins with vinegar and lemon juice after having watched a Royal Mint video on the making of our money,

Some of our JAM club crafts- Planting cress and mustard seeds which the rabbits enjoyed today and stained glass windows.
